Julie Eiselt, Mayor Pro Tem

Charlotte City Council 2017-2019

DWMC Member since 2015

In 2015, Julie was elected at-large to the Charlotte City Council. In her first run for office, Julie was honored to be the top vote-getter, earning more votes in that election cycle than any candidate throughout North Carolina. When Julie sees a need, she takes action. So after a man tried to abduct her at gunpoint in Charlotte in 2007, Julie founded "Neighbors for a Safer Charlotte," a coalition of neighborhood leaders that advocated for safer streets and neighborhoods. This effective grassroots organization spurred more funding for Charlotte’s police department and court system, and more accountability from public officials. Julie’s work led the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department to present her with the Citizen Service award, and the Charlotte Observer to name her as one of “Seven To Watch” for her work in public safety.
